Drawing Walks in Paphos, Cyprus

£35.00 GBP

What does it mean to capture the spirit of a place? Can quick drawings, rendered loosely, help us accurately record our perception of a space or moment?

Join UK based artist and drawing tutor Anuschka Barlas for an immersive drawing walk around Lempa. Located in the hills next to the ancient ruins of a Neolithic settlement and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the village of Lempa is just 2 miles north of Paphos town and is home to the Cyprus College of Art.

Taking the beautiful landscape and the colours, forms, sounds and movement present within the surroundings as our starting point, we will focus on spontaneous mark-making to record our observations in a sketchbook, using a range of drawing materials. The walk will begin and end at the College studios, where we will spend the afternoon discussing sources of inspiration, art historical references and developing our sketches into semi-abstract landscapes from memory and imagination. All materials provided.

This course welcomes beginners, or those with some experience in drawing and painting - basically anyone curious about combining hiking and drawing outdoors and learning more about the art, culture and history of this unique area of Cyprus.
